Acrylics For Tanning Beds

The Use of Acrylics for Tanning Beds

Tanning beds have been used in the United States and around the world for many years now and are widely popular with those who wish to get a deep, rich tan without having to commit countless hours to sunbathing. Due to the heavy use of tanning beds a secondary market has opened up. The manufacture and sale of acrylics for tanning beds is now an important part of the tanning industry.

Acrylics for tanning beds are used to create “shields” that are placed over the original surface of the bed to provide a buffer between the tanning customer and the bed. This acrylic shield provides a more hygienic tanning experience, especially in a busy salon where hundreds of people may use a particular tanning bed every week. It provides a surface that is easy to clean and maintain, can be changed when needed, and also protects the surface of the tanning bed from scratches and other forms of damage.

Some tanning beds come with an acrylic shield already installed, but most commercial acrylics for tanning bed purposes will need to be changed fairly regularly; at least every month or so, depending on the level of use that the bed receives. It is simply one more part of the cost of doing business in the tanning industry.

Acrylics for tanning bed are required by law in some places, these laws being enforced by the state or county health department. Because people tan wearing very little clothing (or none at all) these regulations are a necessity and require not only that the acrylics for tanning beds be in place, but that they are cleaned after every use.

Acrylics for tanning beds are sold through both the tanning bed manufacturer or dealer locations as well as by third parties that manufacture and/or sell tanning bed parts and accessories. In a tanning salon setting the most often replaced part of a tanning bed will be the lamps, but the acrylics for tanning beds certainly run a close second. It is simply a vital part of the tanning business.

Residential tanning bed owners can also benefit from the use of acrylics for tanning beds. For the same reasons as in a salon, the residential user will want to be sure to clean the acrylic shield after each use and replace the acrylic shield whenever necessary.

Of course a home tanning bed is not likely to see even half the use of a commercial tanning bed in a salon, so replacement of the acrylics for tanning bed purposes will not be as frequently necessary as it is in a salon. If the residential tanning bed did not come with an acrylic shield (most do), one can still be ordered for it and cut to fit if there is not a company that makes the appropriate size for the owner’s particular model.

Acrylics for tanning beds are both necessary and practical in a tanning salon and convenient for a residential owner. They exist for a reason and anyone using a tanning bed should always make sure that the acrylic shield has been freshly cleaned before beginning a tanning session.
