Choosing a Best Tanning Lotion
What is the best tanning lotion in the world? Does
anyone know? How does one determine which tanning lotion
is the best from all the brands that are on the market
and do we go back to the “old days” when Coppertone
ruled the roost or are we only interested in today’s
modern “extreme” tanning lotions like Aloha, Australian
Gold, Banana Boat, and the like? Surely with so many
offerings, one must be the best and one, conversely,
must be the worst. It’s a tough call, but perhaps a
little examination can give us an idea which of the many
available products is indeed the best tanning lotion.
In the old days, twenty or thirty years ago, no one
thought about tanning lotion. If you were going to the
beach you picked up a bottle of Coppertone along the
way. In the early eighties we became more aware of the
effects the sun’s rays have and we started buying
sunscreen and zinc oxide by the gallon.
These products did nothing for tanning, but protected us
from the sun. If we’re considering the best tanning
lotion do we even include Coppertone in our
considerations? Probably not. Instead we’re going to
want to look at the more modern and scientifically
designed lotions like Aloha, Australian Gold, and Banana
Boat.
Customers swear by Australian Gold’s indoor and outdoor
tanning lotions. There are several tanning salons that
won’t stock any other brand because Australian Gold is
all that many of their clients will buy. Aloha, like
Australian Gold, offers a large subset of individual
brands – all with a decidedly Hawaiian flavor, of
course. The two brands together comprise a major part of
the tanning lotion market, but they are not alone. While
both Aloha and Australian gold make traditional sun tan
lotions, their primary focus is on lotions designed for
use with tanning beds.
Banana Boat, on the other hand, is just the opposite.
This company makes primarily outdoor tanning lotions and
is widely considered to make the best tanning lotion
available. Whether Banana Boat really is the best
remains to be seen, however, and ultimately the decision
will be up to you, the consumer.
Any of these three brands could easily be dubbed the
best tanning lotion based on their popularity, how well
they function, and their sheer sales numbers. They are
far from the only contenders (Bain de Soleil Mega Tan
comes to mind, for example) in the marketplace.
To determine which the best is, the consumer will have
to try the ones which interest her and make her decision
by comparing results. Comparing various products and the
results they provide has long been the most effective
way of deciding which product is the best for any one
person’s needs and it’s true of these tanning lotions as
well. To determine the best all-around tanning lotion
that is on the market today, give ‘em a try and then
make up your mind from there.
